The Lady Mayoress is pleased to report that the versatile Interplay Theatre was transformed from a super seventies style roller disco on Saturday night into a laid back coffee shop with books galore. From the frenetic, with lots of thrills and spills, to the positively catatonic with lots of lounging!
OVer 60+ skaters turned up Saturday, to race, or wobble their way around. Some spectacular falls and some silly slips, but on the whole the crowd of young and old had marvellous fun as they whizzed around on their wheels. Well done to the Charlies Angels - Casey, Jane, Michelle, Clancy and new member Keir!
On Sunday, Interplay was turned into a Borders with attitude. We had a 'Chills and Thrills' section, complete with fake blood, ziploock bag with hair, and other clues. In the 'hearts and flowers' section we had a chocolate fountain, (or should we say blob?) Cosy cushions, candles and lots of 'swills and moon'. As the weather was so lovely we took the 'darn good beach read' outside, added a paddling pool, some sand, and let the kid's pretend they were on their hols! Story Teller Martha Sinclair kept those not caked in sand, spellbound in her magic tent...
Just Coffee People, operated a wonderful coffee shop, replete with baked goodies. They kindly donated time and free tea and coffee (fairtrade) for the day, so a big thanks goes to David!
Thanks to everyone who helped and brough armfuls of books. Especially the wonderful Jane Earnshaw who let The Armley Tourist Board, realise the dream of Cafe Society in Armley - just once!
